Ritual of Hate in CIty of Brotherly Love: Philadelphia hosts a Satanic black "mass"
The Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art (yes, that is the real name, not a satire) is hosting a public black "mass" to be performed by a group calling itself the Temple of Satan. The blasphemy is scheduled to take place on October 12 at two different times. The Mausoleum states that the second time was added due to the first one being sold out.
A black "mass" is a blasphemous mockery that inverts the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and is offered to the devil. The offense of blasphemy is compounded by this event taking place publicly.
Recent years have seen a growing public display of Satanism and permission for public blasphemous events like this one being granted. Avid CFN readers may recall my reports of the public black "masses" performed in Oklahoma City in September 2014 and August 2016. Notwithstanding these great offenses to Almighty God, the group organizing those events barely sold any tickets and only a few people (beyond the media) showed up to watch. Yet, attendance at a public Traditional Mass of Reparation for this blasphemy on each of those days saw over 850 attendees. The one in 2014 was held in a nearby hotel ballroom and the one in 2016 on the front lawn of the theater in which the blasphemy occurred. Sadly, as a growing testament to the rising acceptance of public blasphemy in our country, this Philadelphia event claims to have sold out the first "show" and is close to selling out the second.
These open invitations to the demons are acts contrary to the common good of our country. They mock God and, as we heard in the Epistle for this past Sunday (15th after Pentecost), "Be not deceived; God is not mocked" (Gal. 6:7). A country which offers public worship to the devil is, literally, playing with fire.
Consequently, we must all take action:
- We must pray that Our Lord will divinely intervene so that this event on October 12 will be cancelled or, if it be God's will to permit this blasphemy, we must pray in reparation (especially the Prayer to St. Michael).
- A group has organized an online petition to the Mausoleum to cancel this blasphemy. Consider signing it here.
- Perhaps some readers living in or near Philadelphia can work with their priest to organize a public Traditional Latin Mass of Reparation on October 12 as we did in Oklahoma City in 2014 and 2016. A public blasphemy requires public reparation. God showed these two years in Oklahoma City that he could bring good out of even this evil. Those public Masses of Reparation bore tremendous fruit and led to new people discovering the Mass of All Ages for the first time. Attendance at our Traditional Latin Mass chapel, St. Michael's, has doubled since 2014. I believe the public Masses of Reparation are the reason for this blessing.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!
